2008 Design Trends

Ever wondered what the new trends will be for the interior design of your home? If you're someone who loves to be "in the know", then be inspired by Angela Hogan, senior design manager for Beazer Homes interior design. Her job is to track popular design trends in homes around the nation. So let's see what's HOT for 2008!

Green Design- The green movement is growing. It's effect on building and decor will soon become a standard of living. You can find it in products made from sustainable or recycled materials and in completely eco-friendly homes- not only in how they're built but also in how they function.

Designing for Technology- Being tech savvy has become increasingly predominant in our homes, the housing and furniture companies are incorporating it into their designs. Like the motorized devices that lower your flat screen t.v. into it's console when not in use, or the electronic media/alarm systems you can activate while on vacation, or the iPod connections in your recliner chair, and docking stations in your night stand! We are becoming dependent on electronics.

Gold- From brass fixtures to golden-colored walls, gold is back in a big way. We're not talking the same gold look from the 1980's. This style includes brushed and shiny finishes and is on everything from lighting to furniture and accessories.

Gray- Forget taupe. Gray is the new neutral for 2008. It ranges from cooler grays with a blue undertone to warm mushroom-inspired tones. This color is easy to incorporate into many existing color schemes and adds a fresh feel to a room.

Check back often for more exciting design trends for 2008!
