Organize Your Bedroom
Five Easy Ways to Declutter Your Bedroom:
1) Under the bed storage- a king size bed takes up 42 sq. ft. of valuable space. You can buy tubs specially made to fit under a bed. These tubs can hold out-of-season clothing or shoes. If you don't want a typical tub you can buy sliding drawers for under your bed *look at Ikea*
2) Use Your Closet- If you hang clothes that don't go all the way to the floor you can add an additional rod to double your storage space. Add the 2nd rod about 40 inches from the floor. Place your everyday clothes before your special occasion wear. Try to stick to shelves not drawers. If you can see it easily you can find it easier.
3) Make it Kid Friendly- By installing a Murphy bed your child's room can double as a nursery. Store stuffed toys and blankets in a chest that can double as a window seat. It's also kid height. By stacking rods in a closet you can keep the out of season clothes up higher where the child can't reach. Children can choose their own clothes by what they can see/reach.
4) Reach for the Stars- If your house has high ceilings you can install shelves to keep luggage and out of season clothing, or anything you don't need that often. If you don't have a lot of space around the bed, opt for a headboard with cabinets to keep glasses, lights, and books.
5) Easy Access- If your attic is hard to access, consider installing another door with drop down ladder in a closet to make it easier on you to get the things you put there. The easier the attic is to access the more likely you are to use it.
