Swine Flu
Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:36AM The swine flu has up until now been confined to pigs but now it has morphed to being transmitted to humans. It appears just like any regular flu and showed up during flu season this past year. Some of the common symptoms include the sudden onset of: fever, sore throat, running nose, cough, achy body parts, vomiting, and diarrhea. The swine flu has sprung up mainly from Mexico but Notre Dame University (South Bend, IN) has also recorded a case.
There are some easy precautions to help reduce your risk of contracting the swine flu. These precautions are: covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough and promptly discard, wash your hands often with warm, soapy water, avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes, and avoid shaking hands or any close contact with anyone who develops flu like symptoms.
If you do develop flu symptoms: stay at home and treat your symptoms to reduce spread, take Tylenol or Advil to reduce fever, and drink plenty of liquids and eat healthy. See a doctor if you: have a fever of 104*F or higher, have difficulty breathing, chest or abdominal pain, are lethargic or confused, sever or persisting diarrhea or vomiting.
Hope this info helps you learn more about the swine flu and helps to reduce the spread. Keep Germx handy in you purse, pocket, car, office, and at home.
